Photobiomodulation (PBM) is a non-invasive approach that uses red and near-infrared light to influence cellular processes. Light is absorbed by components within the cells, including the mitochondria, and PBM is being studied for its potential effects on cellular energy production, oxidative stress, inflammation and tissue function. At Rome’s Wellness, PBM is incorporated into a broader personalised wellness program rather than being used as a stand-alone solution. We bring together contemporary approaches such as PBM, EEG-based assessment and neurofeedback with Ayurveda, Yoga, meditation, mindfulness, Yogic practices, nutrition and spiritual self-exploration to support mental, emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing.

Our NeuroBalance approach places particular emphasis on the brain, cognition and nervous-system wellbeing. Depending upon individual needs and suitability, the program is designed to support areas such as mental clarity, attention, memory, relaxation, sleep quality, stress regulation, emotional wellbeing, cognitive performance and healthy energy levels. PBM research is also exploring areas including mitochondrial function, ATP production, oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, neural signalling and neuroplasticity. Rather than promising to treat individual diseases, our philosophy is to create conditions that support the body's natural processes while addressing lifestyle, sleep, nutrition, movement, stress and emotional wellbeing as interconnected aspects of health.

Personalised EEG insights form an important part of the retreat experience. EEG-based observations provide information about patterns of brain activity that can help inform the individual wellness program. Where appropriate, assessments may be repeated during the retreat to observe changes and refine the program. These insights are combined with personal consultations rather than being interpreted in isolation.

Neurofeedback may also be incorporated into the program to support awareness and self-regulation of brain activity. Alongside this, Ayurvedic consultations and therapies, customised Yoga and meditation, breathwork, mindfulness, sound-based practices, nature immersion and spiritual reflection create a more comprehensive experience. Our approach recognises that the brain cannot be separated from the rest of the person; sleep, digestion, movement, nutrition, emotional experiences, environment and daily rhythms can all influence how we feel and function.

Lifestyle transformation is therefore an essential part of the retreat. Guests explore cognitive and emotional wellbeing, brain-supportive nutrition, Ayurvedic principles, healthy sleep routines, movement, stress management and conscious daily practices. The intention is not simply to experience therapies while staying with us, but to understand which habits and practices can realistically become part of everyday life after returning home.

The first stage of the retreat focuses on a foundational reset. Your journey begins with individual consultations, EEG-based observations where appropriate, and an Ayurvedic wellness assessment. Nourishing food, gentle Yoga, meditation, breathing practices, rest and selected Ayurvedic therapies help establish a calmer daily rhythm and create the foundation for the weeks ahead.

The second stage places greater emphasis on stress reduction and emotional balance. Neurofeedback, mindfulness, sound-based practices, breathwork, restorative Yoga and nature walks may be incorporated according to individual requirements. This period encourages you to become more aware of stress responses, emotional patterns and the relationship between the mind, body and nervous system.

The third stage moves towards cognitive wellbeing, mental clarity and creativity. Practices may focus on attention, memory, concentration, creative thinking and conscious mental engagement. Neurofeedback and other personalised practices can continue alongside workshops and contemplative activities designed to encourage greater awareness of how you use and care for your mind.

The final stage is devoted to integration and lifestyle alignment. EEG reassessment may be undertaken where appropriate, and the insights gathered throughout your stay are brought together into a personalised plan for life after the retreat. Daily routines, nutrition, Yoga, meditation, breathing practices, sleep habits and other wellness strategies are adapted into realistic practices that can be continued at home. Guided Vedic chanting, philosophical discussions and Yogic teachings add another dimension to this process by encouraging deeper reflection on the Self, purpose and conscious living.

Throughout the retreat, our intention is to support cognitive wellbeing, emotional resilience, restorative sleep, relaxation, physical vitality and greater self-awareness. Each person's response is individual, and no particular medical or psychological outcome can be guaranteed. What we provide is an environment in which modern wellness technologies and ancient wisdom can work alongside one another within a carefully structured, whole-person program.

A defining feature of the experience is its personalised one-to-one attention. Programs are individually structured rather than delivered as a standard package. Guests enjoy comfortable accommodation in a peaceful natural environment, nourishing vegetarian Ayurvedic-inspired cuisine and a daily rhythm designed around rest, learning, movement and reflection. Your stay may also include silent periods for deeper introspection, Ayurveda-based detoxification where professionally appropriate, nature experiences and selected visits to sacred and culturally significant locations in and around Mysore.

The retreat package includes accommodation, nourishing meals, scheduled wellness sessions, retreat activities and the therapies specified within your individual program. Additional specialist or Ayurvedic treatments, where required, will be discussed separately.

Places are intentionally limited so that we can preserve the personal nature of the experience. To apply, prospective guests are invited to share their wellness goals, relevant health information, current medications and preferred retreat dates. This allows us to determine whether the program is appropriate and begin designing your personalised journey before you arrive.

Reset the Brain. Restore the Body. Rebalance the Mind. Reconnect with the Self.
